Rocks and Rock Cycle
HSCE'S: E3.p2 Rocks and Minerals
E3.1 Advanced Rock Cycle
Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of rocks and the rock cycle by completing the virtual lesson on minerals, rocks and the rock cycle.
What is a rock made out of? Minerals. Could you name some minerals and their properties? I hope so, because I am going to ask you to "put your money where your mouth is."
Assignment #1: Create a Wordle on one of the 4000 minerals.
Using the "Websites to Explore" www.wordle.net section, choose and research a mineral.
You will need to list the properties of the minerals and type them into a word document. After they are listed, follow the directions for creating a Wordle. A link to Wordle is listed in the "Website to Explore" section.
Key points to remember:
The more times the word is listed, the larger it will appear. You will want items of importance, such as the name of the mineral, to be typed at least 10 times.
Word phases need to linked together. For example Mohs Scale should be written as MohsScale or Mohs-Scale.
You CAN NOT save your document on Wordle!!! You must type the list into a word document, then cut/paste. (I would recommend saving your word document).
